My Comments:
Each image of Thomas Shahan is so unique and enthralling that I spent a great amount of time on each image.  He has a fantastic way of capturing these little creatures in the perfect light.  I couldn’t remove my eyes from a thorough and in depth inspection of each insect.  Thomas Shahan’s Photgraphy is absolutely desrving of the Photo-of-the-Week award.

My Comments:
Willie Holdman is a genius. He is a local to Utah and I have had the opportunity to meet him a few times. I have a great respect for Willie as a photographer and as person. He is always willing to spend time answering questions or telling stories about each picture. Most of Willie’s pictures are the result of arduos hikes in mild weather, severe hot or extreme cold. Willie is willing to snowshoe through miles of snow, go on week long treks alone, or climb down treachorous cliffs just to frame the perfect moment in his lens. I love Willies work and hope to own a few pieces some day. Willie just came out with a book that looks fantastic.

My Comments:
Bruce captures the moments of greatness and tragedy that only happen in sports. The images pull you into the conflict and victory of overcoming that is at the heart of athletic competition. I love the emotion I find in each of Bruce’s photos.

My Comments:
Chris is a photographer with many talents and abilities, black&white, people, lifestyle etc… The style I chose Chris for Photog-o-Week is his Food photography. He has a wonderful way of making food look as good as it tastes. You should check out Chris’ other work as well because he really is a wonderfully varied photographer. His food shots are succulent. I love the deep rich colors in the peaches and the caramel filling that is oozing out of the sides of the pastry. Chris has mouth watering photography.

Mark Raymond MasonWebsite:

Abstract photography.

My Comments:
Mark is a photography purist. He is an island in a digital world. With film, chrome slides and a scanner Mark creates unaltered breathtaking abstracts. His skills are in the camera and staying true to photography in it’s purest form. He takes pictures that don’t immediately focus your attention, yet you are somehow drawn to the mystery held within each picture and must explore it. Each photograph is a journey.

The cropping and colors that she finds bring her photos from the page/screen directly into the brain. The saturation is deep but it works. She has won many awards and been featured in many magazines. Plus she has a pretty nice website.

Michael has a mystifying way of turning water, oceans, and fog into dreamscapes that seem to take a solid form. The use of lines, form, composition and shadows and turn his reality into a haunting and mysterious beauty that entrances you and won’t let you go. The dock below is one to have in the gallery.
